Col. William Higginson built this two-wing single family home in 1894, and sold to Hugh Duncan in 1900 for $3,000. The house had several owners, the longest of whom was the family of Abraham Poirier, retired owner of The White Palace,Purchased for $4,000 in 1945, the house remained in the Poirier family until 1963. The house sold for $10,500 and was later divided into apartments.
Constructed in 1891, this building began as the Ostrom Brothers Pharmacy. It was purchased by Hugh Duncan after his graduation from the Ontario College of Pharmacy in 1892. He was a member of the Knox Presbyterian Board of Managers in 1903.
