Biography
George Demetrios Papadopoulos was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1987 to Greek immigrants from Thessaloniki. He worked as an unpaid intern at the Hudson Institute from 2011 to 2015, becoming an oil, gas, and policy consultant. He went on to become a foreign policy advisor to Donald Trump's Republican presidential campaign during the 2016 presidential election, and he was involved in the campaign's ties to the Russian government. After Papadopoulos was found to have lied to the FBI about his ties to Russia, he pled guilty to making false statements on 5 October 2017 and served twelve days in prison and twelve months of supervised release. He later authored a book calling him a "deep state target", and he was pardoned by Trump in December 2020.
